Bagerhat, Feb 16 (UNB) – Driven by his conscience, an assistant sub-inspector at a police camp in Morelganj revolted against his boss and lodged a complaint with the higher authorities for his alleged involvement in corruption.
Assistant Sub-inspector Saidul Islam of Sannasi Camp in a written complaint to the Police Super of the district said OC of Morelganj Thana Shah Alam takes bribe from timber smugglers and helps them pilfers timbers from the Sundarbans.
In his letter, the ASI described that the OC gives tokens to smugglers so that his subordinates do not obstruct them in smuggling timbers. “He is not only plundering the country’s wealth, but also damages the image of the police force,” he said.
However, the OC could not be reached for comments.
But Police Super Abdus Sattar told UNB that he has not yet received such complaint. “Once I receive such an allegation and the OC is found guilty, departmental action would be taken against him,” he said.
