Bagerhat, Apr 7 (UNB)- In a bid to create job opportunity for women, the government has undertaken plan to set up a Women Agriculture Institute at Tulatala in Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat district.
Meanwhile, State Minister for Social Welfare Dr Mozammel Hossain unveiled the plaque and laid the foundation stone of the 4-story building of the institute in the district on Thursday.
The women institute is being set up on six acres of land involving Tk 9 crore. After completion, over one hundred women will get opportunity of taking training at free of cost every year.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the government has been implementing massive programmes to establish the women rights and ensure their participation in socioeconomic and political activities.
The government is pledge-bound to ensure overall development of the country, he said calling for all to make the programmes undertaken by the government a success.
Director of Women Affairs Directorate, Nizamuddin Al Hossaini, DC Rabiul Islam, local Awami League leaders Adv Monsur Ahmed and Aminul Islam also spoke on the occasion.
