June 22 (UNB) – All movable properties of Patharghata sub-registry
office have been seized under warrant of distrait to realize huge
outstanding land development tax.
Officials
and employees of land department conducted a raid on the sub-registry
office on Wednesday and seized all furniture and other goods following
a court order upon a certificate case.
They
also seized a speed-boat of Water Development Board for the same
reason.
The
Upazila Nirbahi Officer said land tax amounting Tk 26 lakh have long
been due in WDB and about Tk 27,000 in the sub-registry office.
Another
source said the sudden raid in the important office was conducted
without the permission of the sub-register. Many important documents
might be lost during the drive, the source added.
