Barguna,
June 28 (UNB)- In an effort to bring a vast tract of land under
irrigation network the Government has undertaken two projects to
excavate two canals in Betagi upazila at a cost of Tk 52 lakh.
Tk
40 lakh was allocated for the Jalisha Kaunia canal and Tk 12 lakh for
Mayarhat Canal, official sources said.
Local
government Engineering Department is implementing the project under
the financial assistance from donor agency Danida.
The
sources said 85 percent work of the projects has already been
completed and the rest is likely to be finished soon.
After
the successful completion of the projects some 5000 hectares of land
will come under irrigation facilities.
