Oct 30 (UNB) – Price of green chilli is going up gradually in the
district surpassing all the previous records.
Acute
scarcity of the green chilli has been prevailing in the district and
at present per kg is being sold at Tk 60.
Market
sources said the price of green chili was Tk 20-24 last week but it
went up after the hailstorm, which caused extensive damage to the
important cooking ingredient.
Taking
the advantage, smugglers are found busy in bringing the green chilli
from across the border. Officials said a consignment was seized at
Hili Check post on Thursday.
BDR
members also seized 120 kg Indian green chilli from near Hakimpur
Women College area on the same day.
