Bogra,
May 17 (UNB)- The government has sanctioned a total of 9,873 metric
tons of rice under the special VGF program to help the distressed
families in 16 northern districts in the current year.
Officials
said each of the total 9,87,000 VGF (Vulnerable Group Feeding)
cardholder is entitled to receive 10 kgs of rice per month.
Of
the total, Bogra was allotted 97,200 cards, Dinajpur - 91,800,
Thakurgaon - 45,900, Panchagarh - 38,700, Lalmonirhat - 37,800,
Nilphamair - 54,900, Kurigram - 65,700, Gaibandha - 73,800, Joypurhat
-28,800, Rajshahi - 63,900, Naogaon - 89,100, Natore - 46,800,
Chapainawabganj - 40,500, Pabna - 64,800 and Sirajganj - 72,900 cards.
But
local people alleged that cards were distributed in many areas after
taking bribe.
