May 5 (UNB) – A farmer has produced a record amount of onion with a
local variety from three acres of land at Kalerpara in Dhunat upazila
this season.
Ajmal
Hossain Azad produced 82 maunds of onion per acre sowing Faridpuri
variety seed, which he had bought from Samrat Seed Store in Chandni
Bazar.
Azad
said he earned Tk 24,000 against his production cost of Tk 4,600 this
season, which was much higher than his previous year’s earning.
Onion
is now selling at Tk 300 per maund.
