          Chapainawabganj,
          Dec 18 (UNB) – A scheme has been taken up to bring 41,200 hectares
          of land under Boro cultivation in the district with a production
          target of over 1.23 lakh mts paddy. 
           
          
           
          Agriculture
          Extension department sources said of the land, 10,150 hectares will be
          cultivated in Sadar, 10,180 hectares in Shibganj, 11,320 hectares in
          Gomostapur, 5,000 hectares in Nachole and 4,550 hectares in Bholahat
          upazilas. 
           
          
           
          The
          government under its post-flood rehabilitation programme distributed
          16 mts of Boro seeds among the growers free of cost. 
           
          
           
          AED
          said Boro transplantation beginning from the last week of the current
          month would continue till February next. 
           
          
           
          There
          are some 12,348 deep and 5,563 shallow tubewells and 1,068 power pumps
          in the district to provide irrigation facilities, AED sources said.
