          Chapainawabganj,
          Aug 12 (UNB) - In bid to meet the protein demand, Livestock Department
          set up some 11,548 cattle and poultry farms in 16 northern districts
          in last financial year. 
           
          
           
          Apart
          from this, the department set up 4,744 units for rearing chicks and
          ducklings in the districts during the period. 
           
          
           
          It
          also distributed over 21.32 lakh chicks and ducklings along with 13.98
          lakh eggs.     
           
          
           
          Meantime,
          some 3.21 crore cattle and poultry birds were vaccinated about 2.82
          lakh cattle given artificial insemination during the period. 
           
          
           
          District-wise
          breakup of cattle and poultry farms are: Chapainawabganj, 294;
          Rajshahi, 840; Natore, 748; Naogaon, 1,021; Pabna, 1,005; Sirajganj,
          621; Bogra, 1,424; Joypurhat, 419; Rangpur, 1,052; Gaibandha, 554;
          Kurigram, 765; Nilphamari, 489; Lalmonirhat, 369; Dinajpur, 848;
          Thakurgaon, 681 and Panchagarh, 328. 
           
          
           
          Some
          91 units were set up in Chapainawabganj while 250 in Rajshahi, 313 in
          Natore, 358 in Naogaon, 254 in Pabna, 159 in Sirajganj, 548 in Bogra,
          165 in Joypurhat, 247 in Rangpur, 191 in Gaibandha, 280 in Kurigram,
          375 in Nilphamari, 114 in Lalmonirhat, 568 in Dinajpur, 234 in
          Thakurgaon and 165 in Panchagarh districts.
