May 15 (UNB) - Members of a patrol ship of Bangladesh Navy arrested 4
people and seized foreign cigarettes worth over Tk 1.82 crore in the
coast early today (Monday).
The
Navy jawans captured a trawler near Swandip coast at about 3 am and
arrested four smugglers along with 619 master cartons and 45 mini
cartons of foreign cigarettes.
The
arrested -- Mahmudul Hasan, Abdur Rahman, Salimullah and Fazal Ahmed
-- along with the smuggled cigarettes were handed over to the Bandar
thana police today.
Earlier,
coast guards arrested four other smugglers and seized two engine boats
with 69 master cartons of foreign cigarettes worth over Tk 6 lakh from
Anandapur in Bandar thana.
Two
separate cases were lodged.
