Comilla,
July 16 (UNB) – Comilla Polli Bidyut Samity-1 realized Tk 28 crore
outstanding power bills out of Tk 28.45 core, which is 98.67 percent,
achieving a tremendous success in the last fiscal year.
Samity
officials terming the collection as highly satisfactory said it has
installed 2,998km power lines and gave connections to 109,756
consumers in eight upazilas of Comilla and Munshiganj districts since
its inception.
Starting
commercial service in January 12, 1981, it, so far, provided
connections to some 1,829 industrial units, 90,703 households, 2,608
deep and shallow tube-wells and LLP and 2,614 commercial units.
At
present, a total of 1,793 villages of 110 unions in Daudkandi,
Chandina, Homna, Meghna, Debidwar, Barura and Muradnagar upazilas of
Comilla district and adjoining Gajaria upazila of Munshiganj district
are enjoying power facilities from CPBS-1.
Besides,
the samity extended some 2,005 connections to schools, colleges,
madrashas, moktabs and other religious institutions.
The
samity gradually is expanding its activities in 1,710 square km areas
in Comilla and Munshiganj districts, the officials said.
In
a bid to ensure better consumer service through smooth power supply,
bill distribution and line maintenance, it set up six zonal offices
and 10 complaint centres in different parts of these two districts
apart from its headquarters in Chandina.
