Dhaka,
May 20 (UNB)- A tiger puppy escaped from the clutches of a group of
greedy people in the capital.
Police
recovered the three-and-a-half-month-old puppy from a residence in the
capital’s Elephant Road area.
According
to the persons arrested for illegally confining the tiger baby, the
kid along with his brother were trapped somewhere in deep jungles of
Assam in India and smuggled into Bangladesh through Benapole border
only recently.
The
other calf died day before yesterday (Wednesday) and was thrown into a
city dustbin, said Detective Branch Inspector ABM Sultan Ahmed quoting
an arrested person.
Police
said the tiger puppies were brought for selling to a circus party in
Bangladesh. The accused told police that the circus people quoted the
price only at Tk 50,000 each. They were expecting Tk 150,000 each. As
the sale process delayed, one of the infant tigers died for lack of
care.
The
arrested persons are Abdul Kader, 40, Md Ansar Ali, 30, and Zakir
Hossain, 27. They were sued under Wildlife Protection Act.
Police
said Ansar Ali brought the tiger babies to the capital and kept at
