Faridpur, Feb 25 (UNB) – A court here has sentenced the former UNO of Alphadanga upazila of the district to six months civil jail in a contempt case.
Court source said assistant judge MA Salam Khan issued status quo on August 9, 1999 on a petition filed by the terminated superintendent of Barankula Jafaria Siddiquia Madrassah MA Shahid.
The UNO as the chairman of the managing committee of the madrassah terminated him on corruption charges.
But the former UNO of the upazila Amrita Barai, who is now working in Meghna upazila of Comilla district, violating the court order, appointed a new superintendent for the Madrassah.
Superintendent MA Shahid filed the contempt case against the UNO for defying the court order.
After hearing both the parties, the judge pronounced the punishment Tuesday.
