Apr 24 (UNB) – The law and order situation in the district continues
to show a deteriorating trend as 239 criminal cases were filed in six
thanas in last three months.
The
criminal offences that took place during the period range from murder
to rape, according to police records.
Of
the cases, 98 were filed with Sadar thana, 42 with Sonagazi, 32 with
Dagonbhuiyan, 37 with Chagalnaiya, 15 each with Fulgazi and Porshuram
thanas.
Observers
said the actual number of crimes would be much higher than the
official figures as many victims hardly dare to file cases against the
terrorists.
