Feni,
May 18 (UNB) – The crime rate in Feni, the most troubled torn
district of the country, has increased during the last month when 4
persons were killed.
Officials
recorded 93 incidents of crime in the district in April as against 62
in March. This included four murder, three robbery, 12 hijack, eight
clashe, two abduction and three women and child repression.
Informed
sources, however, said many more crimes occurred in the district which
were not recorded with the police for fear of reprisal.
Of
the total crimes recorded by the police, 37 occurred in Sadar, 11 in
Dagonbhuiyan, 16 in Chhagalnaiya, 12 in Sonagazi, 11 in Parshuram and
eight in Fulgazi thana.
Polices
said 399 persons were arrested and 21 arms recovered during the month.
Political
clash, terrorism and extortion have bedeviled the district, which is
represented in Parliament by Begum Khaleda Zia and Mosharraf Hossain
of BNP and Joynal Hazari of Awami League.
