          Gopalganj,
          Apr 10 (UNB) - A 50-bed hostel will be constructed shortly for working
          women in Sadar thana of the district at a cost of Tk 38 lakh.
           
            
          
          
           
          State
          Minister for Women and Children Affairs Prof Zinatunnesa Talukder
          disclosed this while addressing a daylong workshop here Monday on the
          “Role and importance of WID (women in development) coordination
          committee in implementing national work-plan for women development
           
          .
            
          
           
          Speaking
          on the occasion, the state minister said all the ministries and
          departments concerned alongside the Ministry of Women and Children
          Affairs would have to make coordinated efforts for the development and
          empowerment of women. 
            
          
           
          The
          present government is committed to empowerment of women aiming at
          overall development of the country, she said adding that it is
          implementing the national women development policy and work-plan. 
           
           
          
          
           
          
           
          Prof
          Zinatunnesa mentioned that the offices of Women Affairs Directorate
          have been extended to 64 districts and 316 thanas under the present
          government from the previous 22 districts and 136 thanas.
           
            
          
          
           
          Women
          and Children Affairs Secretary Prof Tahmina Hossain and additional
          Deputy Commissioner of Gopalganj Syed Mahbub Hasan also spoke on the
          occasion. 
           
           
          
          
           
          
           
          Earlier,
          the state minister offered fateha at the mazar of Bangabandhu Sheikh
          Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara and visited the site of the Karmajibi
          Mohila Hostel.
