          Apr 28 (UNB) - Standing crops on about 5,000 acres of land in two
          thanas went under water as a large portion of an embankment in Lakhai
          thana was washed away early Thursday.  
            
          
           
          Local
          people said the embankment of Khowai river broke at 3 am at the
          downstream of Jadavpur area in the thana following incessant rain and
          onrush of hilly waters.
          
           
            
          
           
          Following
          the breach, the Khowai water submerged a vast area in Sujatpur and
          Mokrompur unions in Baniachang thana and Boulla and Karab unions in
          Lakhai thana.
