          Jamalpur,
          Nov 20 (UNB)- Valuables of four shops and a hotel worth about Tk 10
          lakh were gutted in a fire at a market at Station road in Islampur
          upazila headquarters on Thursday. 
           
          
           
          Witnesses
          said the fire originated from a candle of filling station when workers
          of the station were pouring petrol from the drum and soon the fire
          engulfed the jewelry-shop, fertilizer-shop, cosmetic-shop, filling
          station and a hotel. 
           
          
           
          Later
          the local people with the help of police brought the fire under
          control. But fire fighters came to the spot from Sadar upazila after
          an hour that angered the local people. But police saved them from the
          wrath of the people. 
           
          
           
          Later
          the fire was brought under total control after one a half-hours of
          frantic efforts. 
           
          
           
          After
          the incident, agitated students and local people brought out a
          precession demanding a fire service station in the upazila.
