Apr 23 (UNB) – Irrigation in the district is seriously being
hampered due to frequent stealing of transformers from four
substations of the district.
At
least 33 transformers worth of Tk 9 lakh were stolen from Sadar,
Navaran, Monirampur and Chougachha thanas under Jessore Palli Bidyut
Samiti (PBS).
In
most cases, the poor farmers have to pay for buying transformers to
keep irrigation in their croplands uninterrupted.
