Apr 19 (UNB)- Work on the construction of electric lines of Jhalakati
Palli Biddut Samity (PBS) involving an expenditure of over Tk 48.0
crore is progressing fast.
Of
the total expenditure Government portion is Tk 25.77 crore while
Germany and OPEC will provide Tk 22.63 crore as assistance.
The
work include the construction of 450-kilometer new lines, repairing of
300 kilometer of existing lines, construction of two MVA substations,
office building, ware-house, rest house and dormitories for the
officials and employees of the PBS.
Official
sources said, after the completion of the line construction the PBS
could give over 33,900 residential, 2,635 commercial, 37 industrial
connections.
Jhalakathi
PBS has already started its activities with 1,490 consumers out of
9,990 consumers handed over from Barisal and Pirojpur PBSs.
The
work of the project is likely to be completed by 2004.
