Jhalakathi, May 17 (UNB)- A union parisad member
has tendered his resignation protesting the delay in taking action
against his chairman for corruption and embezzlement of fund at Magor
union in Nalchiti upazila of the district.
The aggrieved member
Sirajul Islam submitted his resignation to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer
on May 7 and to the Deputy Commissioner on Monday (May 15).
In his resignation
letter he mentioned that eight members of the union parishad
expressing no confidence submitted written allegations against the
chairman to the district administration and the Local Government
ministry in last January. But so far no action was taken in this
regard.
He demanded of the
authority concerned to take immediate steps to probe into the
allegations against the chairman and take necessary action for the
interest of the local people.
