Khagrachhari, Jan 9 (UNB) – Severe cold wave sweeping across the hill district paralyzed the normal life during the last three days.
The cold wave with higher intensity from Sunday caused untold suffering to the people. The old and children are the worst victims.
According to official sources, temperature varied between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius at night in the last few days. Plying of vehicles has also been hampered.
Land less slum dwellers have been passing hard days as the shivering cold hampered their earning to maintain their livelihood.
Town dwellers were forced to remain in indoor and vehicles are plying behind the schedule causing suffering to the passengers.
Army and police have distributed warm clothes among the poor people, but it is quite insufficient to meet the requirement, said the local people.
