May 19 (UNB) – Local administration today slammed section 144
restrictions on the municipal area as
tensions erupted over meetings of two tribal organisations at
the same venue and time on Saturday.
Two
factions of Pahari Chhatra Parishad, one who supports the CHT Peace
accord and another opposing it, convened meetings at Swanirbhor Bazar
field of the municipality for Saturday afternoon.
Today’s
decision of the administration followed its failed initiative to make
both the groups agree to hold their meetings outside the municipal
area.
