Kishoreganj, Jan 26 (UNB) – Lack of patronisation and price hike of essential inputs have wrecked the livelihoods of over of 6,000 blacksmiths in the district.
A large number of blacksmiths in Hossainpur, Katiadi, Sadar, Tarail, Karimganj, Pakundia, Bhairab, Kuliarchar, Bajitpur, Itra, Nikli, Austagram and Mitamain are passing the days in severe economic hardship.
Local elite said NGOs should come up with necessary programmes to save this poor people, who usually make dao, axe, knife, kitchen knife and many other household appliances.
