June 9 (UNB) - A court here on Thursday awarded life rigorous
imprisonment to 11 people in two murder cases.
In
the first verdict, the Additional District and Sessions Judge awarded
8 people life term RI for murdering a minor girl during harvesting in
a disputed land.
They
are: Hazrat Ali and his son Nuru Mia, Zahed Ali, Pachhanda Ali, Shafi,
Mansoor Ali, Muktar Uddin and Nuru Mia.
The
court also fined them Tk 5,000 each, in default, to suffer one year
more RI.
In
another verdict the same judge sentenced three people to life RI
Thursday for murdering one Abdus Salam of Gozaria village in Bajitpur
upazila.
The
court also fined Tk 5,000 each of Mostafa and his two sons Firoj and
Iqbal, in default, to suffer one year more RI.
The
judge also awarded 10 year RI to each of Jashim and Zakir in the same
case and fined them Tk 1,000 each, in default, to suffer six months
more RI.
The
court, however, acquitted four others from the charge, as they were
not found guilty.
