June 21 (UNB) – Family planning methods are being used by 72.50
percent of eligible couples in six upazilas of the district.
Official
sources said the number of eligible couples who are adopting the
methods is increasing with the increase of population.
Total
2,26,659 out of 3,18,557 eligible couples took up the family planning
methods in six upazilas of the district in the month of December 1998,
the sources said.
Of
them, 1,18,462 used oral tablets, 22,354 used condom, 6,25 used copper
T, and 30,967 took injection. Besides 3,559 males adopted permanent
sterilization in the district.
