Sept 3 (UNB) – Laxmipur Palli Bidyut Samity has given power
connection to 42,858 subscribers installing 1,601 km line in four
upazilas of the district in last 10 years.
Of
the total, 34,574 connections were given to residences, 6,470 to
commercial installations, 59 to tubewells and 228 to power pumps,
three to factories and 813 to charitable organizations.
Official
sources said Samity has been working on 1,643 square km area in four
upazilas and established a zonal office, two area offices; four
complain centres and two substations for smooth operation of their
network.
In
1999-2000, the Samity installed 126 km new lines and renewed 19 km
lines and gave training to 96 educated unemployed youths to work as
village electrician.
