Apr 18 (UNB)- A nor’wester lashed four unions of Kaliganj thana
Monday evening causing extensive damage to dwellings and standing
crops
.
The
storm that lasted half an hour damaged three high schools and 70
houses of seven barracks of Kashiram and Bhotmari Asrayan projects.
The schools are South Ghanashyam High School of Tushbhandar, Babur Ali
High School and Rudreshwar High School of Kakina.
Besides,
over 300 kutcha houses were razed to the ground and standing crops on
vast tracts of land damaged.
Many
trees and electric poles were also uprooted.Power remained off in four upazilas including Kaliganj.
Official
sources said 16 villages of Kakina, Madati, Tushbhandar and Bhotmari
unions were more or less affected in the storm.
