Magura, Jan 16 (UNB) – The daylong hartal enforced by Jatiya Party (Ershad) was observed here peacefully today.
The district JP enforced the shutdown demanding arrest of the people involved with the killing attempt of a local party leader.
Shops and business establishments remained closed while official activities were almost normal. Attendance in the educational institutions was also thin.
JP (Ershad) district General Secretary Adv Hasan Siraj Suja was stabbed indiscriminately allegedly by BNP and Chhatra Dal activists here on Monday.
He was today shifted to Dhaka for better treatment.
Meanwhile, police arrested JCD activists Milon, Maruf and Nayeb Ali in connection with the incident. They were sent to jail after producing before the court.
