Magura, Feb 3 (UNB) - Local Social Welfare Department distributed Tk 8.10 lakh as Old-age Allowance among the 1,350 poor people in the district in last six months.
Officials said each of the listed old people received at the rate of Tk 100 per month from July to December. Of the total, 450 people received the allowance in Sadar, 270 Mohammadpur, 360 in Shalikha and 270 in Sripur upazilas.
Another report adds: Youth Development Department disbursed over Tk 1.15 crore as loan among 1,567 unemployed trained male and female youths in the district to make them self-reliant through self-employment schemes.
Officials said the loan was disbursed to take up small ventures like embroidery, tailoring, pisciculture, dairy and poultry farming, small-scale business and tree planting.
Besides, the department imparted training to 403 youths on tailoring, 396 on fish culture, 114 on dairy, 91 on computer, 4,220 on small-scale business.
Of the total, some 2,693 youths were provided with self-employment facilities.
