Munsiganj,
May 19 (UNB) – A bridge on the Dhaka-Tongibari highway in the Sadar
Upzila collapsed this (Friday) morning along with a truck injuring
five people.
Traffic
on Dhaka-Tongibari, Dhaka-Betka, Dhaka-Hasail and Dhaka-Baligaon-Lowhajong
routes was disrupted following the accident.
Witnesses
said the antiquated Dalalapara bridge, constructed during the British
regime, gave in while the Tongibari–bound timber-laden truck
crossing it at about 7am.
However,
there was no water in the canal below.
All
the five people aboard the truck were injured. Of them, Minal and
Shahnewaz were admitted to Munsiganj Sadar Hospital and others to
local hospital.
