Narsingdi, Feb 16 (UNB) – Administration imposed section 144 on Bazirmorh area in the town from 4pm to evening to keep apart two factions in the local
who called meeting at same venue and same time today.
Sources said the supporters of murdered Awami League ward commissioner Manik arranged meeting there at 4pm where supporters of accused Chhatra League general secretary Liakat called another meeting.
To avert a clash, local administration slapped restrictions on assemblies there under section 144.
However, Liakat’s supporters later arranged their scheduled meeting at Bowakur crossing under the banner of general people. From the meeting they demanded withdrawal of the “false” case. Former MP Major Shamsul Huda Bachchu chaired the meeting.
Commissioner Manik, known as a local terror, was murdered on January 2.
