Apr 17 (UNB) – A special court on Woman and Child Repression here
has convicted three youths and sentenced them to seven years rigorous
imprisonment for kidnapping a girl in an attempt to rape her.
The
convicts are Badsha Mia, 22, son of Haka Mia, Masud, 23, son of
Shahidullah and Shahajul, 24, son of Badaruddin of Narayanpur village
in Lalpur thana.
According
to prosecution, the three youths had picked up a young girl from the
village on August 20,1998 and tried to rape her in a cropland. But
some day-laborers who were working on a nearby land rescued the girl
when she cried out for help.
After
examining the witnesses and records, Additional District Judge M
Mujibur Rahman found them guilty of attempt to rape and handed down
the verdict.
The
court also fined them Tk 10,000 each, in default, to suffer one year
more RI.
