20, 2000 Netrakona, May 19 (UNB) - At least 15 people were killed in the district in four months since December last, signaling an alarming deterioration in law and order situation. Police records showed that 493 criminal cases were filed with different police stations of the district during the period. Of the total cases, 136 were filed in December 1999 while 130 in January, 114 in February and 113 in March this year. Unofficial sources said the number of criminal incidents would be much higher than the recorded ones as many victims refrain from filing cases for fear of reprisals by terrorists.
