Apr 23 (UNB) – A young husband frustrated with conjugal life threw
acid on wife injuring her and her grandmother at Polytechnic Staff
Quarter in the town on Saturday night.
Humayun
Kabir (25), the husband, was held by neighbours when trying to flee
after throwing acid on Nayan alias Jainab (18) and handed over to the
police.
Informed
sources said Kabir, worker of a biscuit factory, threw acid on her
newly married wife Nayan through the window when she along with her
grandmother Halima Khatun (60) were sleeping at dead of night.
They
were married barely 9 months ago but most of the time Nayan used to
live in her parents’ house depriving Kabir of his conjugal life.
The
face, shoulder and body of Nayan were burnt in the acid. Both the
victims were immediately taken to Sadar Hospital and admitted there.
