Rajshahi,
Aug 12 (UNB) – Rajshahi Agriculture Development Bank has taken up a
massive programme to distribute loan of Tk 420 crore in the northern
districts in the current 2000-2001 fiscal year.
Official
sources said the loan would be disbursed for seven agricultural
sectors through 301 branches. Some 30 more branches would be opened
soon, sources said.
Sector-wise
allotment is as follows: crop Tk 250 crore, fisheries - Tk four crore,
livestock - Tk 27 crore, agriculture-irrigation - Tk eight crore,
agricultural industry - Tk 40 crore, current loan -Tk 30 crore and
poverty alleviation - Tk 27 crore.
A
competent bank source said additional Tk 34 crore has been allocated
for other sectors.
Besides
the loan distribution, the bank has fixed a target to realise Tk 420
crore and collect Tk 121 as savings in the current year.
In
last fiscal year, the bank distributed Tk 366.13 crore as loan and
realised Tk 388.14 crore with a collection of Tk 137.96 crore savings
under its five-year reformation programme began last November.
Bank
Chairman Prof Anisur Rahman said the bank managed to earn a net profit
of Tk 4.59 crore for the undertaking the reform programme.
