          Rangamati,
May 19 (UNB) – There has been no tangible progress in setting up of
a seismic center in the district despite a decision one year back.

          According
to officials, the government decided to set up two seismic centers
–- one in Rangamati and another in Chittagong -- at a cost of Tk 12
crore last year with financial assistance from UNDP.

          “But
the progress of the project is very slow,” said an official.

          Another
source said weather report from the district couldn’t be prepared
properly as the local met office has been grappled with numerous
          problems.

          The
met office now has only two staff against its eight posts.
