          Rangamati,
July 10 (UNB) – Dairy farms in the district are facing set back due
to price hike and scarcity of fodder and lack of treatment facilities
          for the cattle.

          Most
of the registered and unregistered dairy farms, out of 25, here are on
the verge of closure for want of fodder, the farms owners said.

          They
also said that the price of fodder has shot up abnormally in the last
few days. At present, they have to buy fodder at Tk 150 for per cow
          every day instead of

          Tk
          50.

          Per
bag 50-kg wheat husk is being sold at Tk 375 against the previous rate
          of Tk 250.

          As
the farm owners could not provide adequate fodder to the cattle, milk
production here has come down sharply.

          The
veterinary doctors of the local livestock office could not provide
necessary treatment for the sick cattle due to lack of medicine.

          The
farm owners urged the government to ensure supply of fodder at fair
          prices without further delay.
