          Sherpur,
          Apr 19 (UNB)- The government has under taken six massive development
          projects for the modernization of 29 educational institutions of the
          district during the current fiscal year.
          
           
           
          
           
          The
          Facilities Department of Education Ministry is implementing the
          project at cost of Tk 5.31 crore.
          
           
           
          
           
          Official
          sources said the development work include extension of an additional
          room and a two storied annex building in each of the ten secondary
          schools involving an expenditure of Tk 1.75 crore.
          
           
           
          
           
          Repairing
          and construction work of new building in eight 40-year old high
          schools at a cost over Tk 1.06 crore.
          
           
           
          
           
          Construction
          of academic buildings in three high schools at a cost of over Tk 52
          lakh in Sadar and Jhenigati thanas.
          
           
           
          
           
          New
          academic building of six senior madrashas in Sreebardi, Nalitabari,
          Nakla and Sadar thanas of the district at a cost of Tk 66.60 lakh.
          
           
           
          
           
          An
          engineer of the department said the work of these projects has already
          been started and is likely to be completed by the end of 2000.
