Aug 2 (UNB)- A weeklong long programme to observe ‘World
Breastfeeding Week 2000’ has begun here to create mass awareness
about the usefulness of breastfeeding.
As
part of countrywide observation of the week district health department
have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the week in a
befitting manner.
On
the inaugural day of the week on Tuesday health department brought out
a colourful rally led by Deputy Commissioner Noufel Mia from his
office which was terminated at district Civil Surgeon office.
Employees
of health and family planning departments, health workers, student
nurses and Gano Shyastha workers attended the rally.
Later
a seminar on “ Breastfeeding: It’s Your Right ” at the Civil
Surgeon office was held with Civil Surgeon Dr ATM Shahjahan in the
chair.
Highlighting
the importance and benefit of breastfeeding the speakers laid emphasis
on making the people more aware about it.
Discussions
on the theme of the week were also held in different schools and
colleges in the district.
