Sunamganj,
Apr 25 (UNB) - Harvesting of Boro crops is being hampered due to acute
shortage of agricultural workers in 10 upazilas of the district.
Agriculture
officials said farmers in the district have embarked on crop gathering
a bit earlier this year to avert natural disasters that cause huge
loss to crops.
Some
1,58,770 hectares of land were brought under boro farming in the
district this year and the farmers are expecting a bumper production.
Meanwhile,
the new paddy has hit the market knocking down its price. It’s now
selling at Tk 150-200 per maund.
