Sylhet,
Nov 20 (UNB) – Construction work on the Second Kura Bridge over the
river Kushiara could not be started for last two years following
tangle over site selection.
The
construction of the 363-metre long bridge at a cost of Tk 1.94 crore
was scheduled to be completed by December next.
But
authority of local Roads and Highways Department hanged the
construction work on the plea of site section though all technical
preparations have been completed, locals alleged.
Locals
said the bottleneck was created as the Superintending Engineer,
misusing his power, shifted the original bridge site.
Local
people urged the higher authority to look into the matter and take
necessary steps to start the construction work without further delay.
