          Apr 12 (UNB)- The newly constituted Chhatak Pourasava has been
          implementing a number of uplift projects at a cost of more than Tk 1
          (one) crore. 
           
          
           
          Pourasava
          Chairman Abdul Wahid Majnu Miah told newsmen on the occasion of the
          first anniversary of the Pourasava that work on construction and
          repair of roads, bridges, culverts and drainage system at a cost of Tk
          64 lakh are nearing completion. Asian Development Bank funded the
          project. 
           
          
           
          Besides,
          the pourasva is implementing some projects under special allocation of
          Tk 15 lakh and mid town development programme Tk 30 lakh. 
           
          
           
          The
          chairman said the main problem of the pourasva dwellers is erosion by
          river Surma. The Water Development Board has undertaken a project to
          protect the town from erosion at a cost of Tk 4 crore. 
           
          
           
          Another
          project involving an expenditure of Tk 6 crore is under process to
          protect the town. 
           
          
           
          He
          said financial assistance was given to primary and high schools,
          college and Madrashas of the municipality. The project of constructing
          four community schools is under process. 
           
          
           
          Work
          on setting up streetlights, raising playgrounds, library, safe water
          supply is also progressing. 
           
          
           
          Steps
          are also taken to collect revenue from the dwellers of pourasava area,
          he added.
