Sylhet,
Apr 26 (UNB) – Expatriate passengers are subjected to harassment for
non-functioning of cargo centre at the Osmany Airport for the last 3
months.
Goods
booked at the airport cargo abroad in February are yet to reach the
destination, informed sources said.
Dhaka
Airport authorities issued letters to the expatriates in the local
address to take delivery of their cargo from the Dhaka airport.
Customs
clearing agents said they are facing financial losses while the
government deprived of revenue as they cannot perform their duties
properly.
Sylhet
Customs Clearing and Forwarding Agents’ Association had a meeting
with MD of Sylhet Airport and apprised him of the problem.
MD
informed the Association that facility of booking of cargo by the
expatriates was not extended to Sylhet owing to request by Dhaka
Customs. He assured of carrying goods of expatriate passengers to
Sylhet.
