          Sylhet,
          May 19 (UNB) - Sylhet Education Board, the sixth in the country, is
          set to start its formal functioning next year with holding the SSC and
          HSC examinations of 2001. 
           
          
           
          The
          board has already started its administrative activities and will hold
          the next year’s examinations in cooperation with Comilla Education
          Board. 
           
          
           
          Board
          sources said registration of the class nine students, who will appear
          in the SSC examination 2001 under the new board, begins next month. 
           
          
           
          Chairman
          of the new board Prof M Nazim Uddin said the board is now functioning
          in a rented house at Shah Jalal Model Town in the suburb. 
           
          
           
          The
          government has already appointed a number of officials and employees,
          including the chairman, controller (exam) and secretary, and the
          process of appointing other officials and employees is underway.
