Sylhet, May 25 (UNB) – An Officer-in-Charge and a sipoy of GRP have been closed for their alleged involvement with a group of people in black-marketing tickets at Sylhet Rail station.

Inspector Mobarak Ali of Akhaura Circle GRP closed OC Abdul Jalil and sipoy Nurunnabi after investigation on the cause for damage of the rail station on Saturday.

He also warned two other sipoys –- Shorafat Ali and Bimol -- in this regard.

Police said the Station Master caught one ticket black marketer Shafiq red handed on Saturday but his associates snatched him from the hand of police attacking the station.

It is alleged that the GRP police played a silent role when the group snatched away Shafiq and damaged the station.

After the incident, the Inspector investigated the cause for the damage of the station and found the OC and the sipoy guilty.

Police meanwhile arrested Shafiq, Mobarak and Selim after a case was filed against eight people. Salauddin, Manju, Runu, Mota Shafique and Mora Shafiq, other accused of the case, are in hide.

Mizanur Rahman Mizan has been appointed new Officer-in-Charge of GRP.
