(UNB) – Some 83,005 acres of khas land have so far been distributed
among 11,348 landless families in four districts of Sylhet division.
Of
the lands, 10,614 acres were distributed after formulation of a new
law in this regard while the rest before its enactment.
Of
the families who received the lands, 1,736 hailed from Habiganj, 1,047
from Moulvibazar, 7,674 from Sunamganj and 891 from Sylhet.
Meanwhile,
the district Khas Land Management Committee, which has been
campaigning for a policy for proper distribution of khas land, at a
meeting reviewed the activities of its thana committees to implement
its programme.
Another
report from Bagerhat adds: Documents of 22.5 acres of khas land were
distributed among 38 landless families in Rampal upazila.
State
Minister for Disaster and Relief Management Talukdar Abdul Khaleque
distributed the papers among the landless people at simple a ceremony
at the upazila parishad auditorium on Friday.
