Deposit
of Southeast Bank stands at Tk 6.65b in ‘99

6, 2000. Southeast
Bank Limited (SBL) posted a satisfactory deposit growth in the year 1999
which stood at Tk 6.6 billion. This
was disclosed at the fourth branch managers’ conference of SBL held
Friday at a city hotel. All the executives at head office and branch
managers were present at the conference, according to a press release
issued by the bank Sunday. The
conference was also informed that the profit of the bank exceeded t he
budgeted figure during the period. Pre-tax profit of the bank may be stood
at Tk 201.7 million. Chairman
of the bank Yussuf A Harun was present at the inaugural session as the
chief guest. He acclaimed the chief guest. He acclaimed the performance of
the bank during the last year. Harun
urged the branch managers to face the challenges of the new millennium
with renewed vigor and tenacity. He spoke on different welfare schemes
introduced by the bank for the benefit of its employees. The
SBL chairman observed that more caution and care should be taken in making
investments and proper steps should also be taken for timely realization
of loans and advances extended by the bank. He laid emphasis on regular
audit and inspection of the branches and avoiding unnecessary expenditures
as and where applicable to increase the bank’s profitability. SBL Senior Vice-President and head of Khatungonj branch Khorshid Alam was declared banker of the year at the conference, while Bnagshal branch was declared the best branch. SBL
President and Managing Director Syed Anisul Huq presided over the business
