Railway will receive rails from India |

Dhaka, Apr 26 (UNB) – Bangladesh Railway will receive 10,700 metric tons of 90 pound “A” rails from India worth over Tk 27 crore for the conversion of 34km metre-gauge railway between Joydevpur and Dhaka to a dual-gauge link against Indian state credits. An agreement in this regard was signed between Bangladesh Railway and Steel Authority of India here today (Wednesday). M Shahjahan, Additional General Manager of Bangladesh Railway, and AK Bharma, General Manager of Steel Authority of India, signed the agreement on behalf of respective sides. Abdur Rahim, Director General of Bangladesh Railway, and other senior officials were present in the agreement-signing ceremony. This will be an extension of 90km dual-gauge railway link from Jamtail to Joydevpur via Bangabandhu Bridge under construction. On completion of this project, direct train communications between Rajshahi, Khulna and Parbatipur with capital Dhaka will be established.
