World Bank to fund Nutrition Program |

Dhaka, June 14 (UNB) – Bangladesh will receive Tk 470 crore from World Bank as assistance for implementing the National Nutrition Programme (NNP).
An agreement to this effect was signed between Bangladesh government and WB here yesterday.
ERD Secretary Dr Masihur Rahman and WB Country Director Frederick T Temple signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.
Health and Family Welfare Ministry in cooperation with Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock and Women and Children Affairs Ministries will implement the NNP in 139 upazilas of the country during 2000-2004.
The main objective of the project is to supplement the government efforts to extend community nutrition services to the entire population of the country in phases.
Upon implementation of the project, nutrition status of the poor, particularly that of women, children and adolescent girls will be enhanced. |
